Summary
This class facilitates learning, academic achievement, and personal development by providing instruction to students. Responsibilities include developing and implementing curriculum and lesson plans, utilizing technology, and understanding diverse student needs.
Responsibilities
- Evaluates student performance through examinations, homework assignments, and other methods, promoting student achievement.
- Maintains contact and communications with parents, scheduling and holding parent conferences, and enrolling students.
- Participates in staff development and professional growth activities, participating in in-service activities and educational opportunities.
- Enforces school rules, takes appropriate disciplinary action, ensures the safety of students, and maintains an appropriate classroom-learning environment.
- Provides instruction in the core and age-appropriate curriculum, assessing initial knowledge or skills, and developing and implementing instructional activities for students.
- Collaborates with other teachers, staff resources, and volunteers regarding instructional and program activities.
- Coordinates the mainstreaming of special needs students, determining the least restrictive environment, and assisting with the completion of due process reports and Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
Requirements
- Valid Connecticut State Board of Education teaching certificate/endorsement(s) 034 General Science, 7-12; 032 Physics 7-12
- Current Motor Vehicle operator’s license
