Certified High School Special Education Teacher

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated High School Special Education Teacher to support students with diverse learning needs in an inclusive classroom environment. The ideal candidate will collaborate with general education teachers, develop individualized learning plans, and provide instructional support to help students achieve academic success.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with general education teachers to plan and deliver differentiated instruction.
• Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
• Track student progress and adjust instruction based on performance data.
• Provide classroom accommodations and support for students with special needs.
• Participate in annual and triennial special education meetings.
• Maintain regular communication with families regarding student progress.
• Teach assigned special education classes and provide push-in support as needed.
• Administer state assessments according to required testing accommodations.
• Maintain accurate documentation and comply with state and federal special education regulations.
• Participate in professional development opportunities.
• Foster positive relationships with students and contribute to a supportive learning environment.
• Serve as a mentor for assigned students and communicate with families regarding attendance and student success.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field required.
• New York State Special Education Certification (7–12 or K–12) required.
• Master's degree preferred.
• Minimum of two years of teaching experience preferred.
• Experience supporting students with diverse learning needs.
• Strong classroom management, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and families.
• Proficiency with educational technology and data management tools.
• Successful completion of all required background clearances.

Pay

$65,000 – $95,000 annually
