Certified Hand Therapist
About the role
The Certified Hand Therapist at Northeast Rehabilitation Hospital Network (NRHN) supports the organization's mission, values, and commitment to quality outcomes. This position emphasizes hand and upper extremity injuries, focusing on pediatric, adult, and geriatric clients. The role involves collaborating with patients, families, and colleagues to provide a safe, respectful, and healing environment.
Responsibilities
- Performs assigned duties in accordance with NRHN policies, procedures, and standards of care.
- Demonstrates excellence in skills and professionalism, particularly in treating hand and upper extremity injuries.
- Acts as a clinical resource for all clinical staff regarding upper extremity diagnosis.
- Affiliated with the growth, development, and quality management of the Hand Therapy Program and Northeast Rehabilitation Hospital.
- Active participant in supervising and mentoring occupational therapists, certified occupational therapy assistants, aides, and students.
- Works closely with referring surgeons, understanding the immediate needs and concerns of post-surgical and trauma patients, prioritizing and managing time effectively to ensure positive outcomes.
Qualifications
- Masters degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
- Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) certification from the Hand Therapy Certification Commission (HTCC).
- Licensed in the state of facility site of hire (NH or MA) and eligible for licensure in an alternate state.
- Ability to communicate effectively through oral presentations and written documentation.
- Exceptional knowledge and application of evidence-based treatment principles.
- Constructive problem-solving and emotional maturity.
- Minimum of two evenings per week required, except as approved by the Senior Director of Outpatient Therapy Services.
- Trained and certified biannually in Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare provider level CPR.
