About the role
Loyalhanna Care Center is seeking an experienced, dependable, and motivated Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) to lead our Food & Nutrition Services Department. This is a working manager position requiring hands-on participation in daily kitchen operations, including cooking, food preparation, and staffing support while overseeing the department's overall success. The ideal candidate is a strong leader who thrives in a fast-paced healthcare environment, maintains high food safety standards, and is committed to providing exceptional service to our residents.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily operations of the Dietary Department.
- Complete necessary documentation in Point Click Care (POC).
- Prepare and cook meals while working alongside dietary staff as needed.
- Ensure meals are prepared and served according to physician orders, therapeutic diets, and resident preferences.
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Ensure all food safety, sanitation, and infection control standards are followed.
- Manage food ordering, inventory, and department budgets.
- Develop staff schedules and ensure adequate staffing.
- Hire, train, coach, and evaluate dietary employees.
- Participate in quality assurance and regulatory surveys.
- Be available for on-call responsibilities and provide leadership during staffing shortages or emergencies.
Qualifications
- Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) certification required.
- Current ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification required.
- Previous supervisory or management experience in a healthcare dietary department preferred.
- Skilled nursing or long-term care experience strongly preferred.
- Thorough knowledge of therapeutic diets, food safety regulations, and infection control practices.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and on-call coverage as needed.
- Must be able to perform cooking duties and assist with meal service when necessary.
Physical requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work in a hot kitchen environment for extended periods.
- Ability to perform all essential functions of the position.
