About the role

Loyalhanna Care Center is seeking an experienced, dependable, and motivated Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) to lead our Food & Nutrition Services Department. This is a working manager position requiring hands-on participation in daily kitchen operations, including cooking, food preparation, and staffing support while overseeing the department's overall success. The ideal candidate is a strong leader who thrives in a fast-paced healthcare environment, maintains high food safety standards, and is committed to providing exceptional service to our residents.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily operations of the Dietary Department.
  • Complete necessary documentation in Point Click Care (POC).
  • Prepare and cook meals while working alongside dietary staff as needed.
  • Ensure meals are prepared and served according to physician orders, therapeutic diets, and resident preferences.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Ensure all food safety, sanitation, and infection control standards are followed.
  • Manage food ordering, inventory, and department budgets.
  • Develop staff schedules and ensure adequate staffing.
  • Hire, train, coach, and evaluate dietary employees.
  • Participate in quality assurance and regulatory surveys.
  • Be available for on-call responsibilities and provide leadership during staffing shortages or emergencies.

Qualifications

  • Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) certification required.
  • Current ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification required.
  • Previous supervisory or management experience in a healthcare dietary department preferred.
  • Skilled nursing or long-term care experience strongly preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of therapeutic diets, food safety regulations, and infection control practices.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and on-call coverage as needed.
  • Must be able to perform cooking duties and assist with meal service when necessary.

Physical requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work in a hot kitchen environment for extended periods.
  • Ability to perform all essential functions of the position.
