Responsibilities
- Be available in clinic most days of the week for additional one-on-one teaching as needed (e.g., instruction on insulin pen use, glucometers, insulin pump)
- Conduct DSME and/or nutrition clinics 4 days per week
- Cookordinate, manage, and teach group diabetes education class
- Cookordinate/implement other external events as appropriate
- Create and implement an annual Diabetes Day event
- Create and implement CQI projects (a requirement of ADA recognition)
- Assist the Education Coordinator with maintaining ADA recognition
- Help with coordination and teaching of other classes (e.g., Managing Diabetes and Pump Preview)
- Helps maintain ADA recognition and keep up to date
- Work closely with the administrative staff on scheduling and other matters
- Work with vendors for samples and updates
Requirements
- Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department
Skills
- Ability to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in an appropriate field (e.g., Nursing, Dietetics-Nutrition, or a biological science) from an accredited college or university
- High School Graduate
- 2 or more years of clinical experience in diabetes and/or nutrition education
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's Degree in an appropriate field (e.g., Nursing, Dietetics-Nutrition, or a biological science) from an accredited college or university
- 2 or more years of clinical experience in an ADA or AADE accredited program
