Responsibilities

  • Be available in clinic most days of the week for additional one-on-one teaching as needed (e.g., instruction on insulin pen use, glucometers, insulin pump)
  • Conduct DSME and/or nutrition clinics 4 days per week
  • Cookordinate, manage, and teach group diabetes education class
  • Cookordinate/implement other external events as appropriate
  • Create and implement an annual Diabetes Day event
  • Create and implement CQI projects (a requirement of ADA recognition)
  • Assist the Education Coordinator with maintaining ADA recognition
  • Help with coordination and teaching of other classes (e.g., Managing Diabetes and Pump Preview)
  • Helps maintain ADA recognition and keep up to date
  • Work closely with the administrative staff on scheduling and other matters
  • Work with vendors for samples and updates

Requirements

  • Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department

Skills

  • Ability to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in an appropriate field (e.g., Nursing, Dietetics-Nutrition, or a biological science) from an accredited college or university
  • High School Graduate
  • 2 or more years of clinical experience in diabetes and/or nutrition education

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in an appropriate field (e.g., Nursing, Dietetics-Nutrition, or a biological science) from an accredited college or university
  • 2 or more years of clinical experience in an ADA or AADE accredited program
