Certified Coding Specialist- Hospital

Job Responsibilities

• Sets ICD-10, ICD-10-PCS, HCPCS, modifiers, and CPT codes.
• Uses the DRG grouper, APC grouper, and other computer-based programs for optimal reimbursement.
• Aids in collecting data for concurrent chart reviews on admissions.
• Maintains knowledge of insurance payer guidelines by reviewing monthly news bulletins.
• Evaluates timeliness of documentation to address any necessary improvements.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent experience required.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy required.
• ICD-10, ICD-10-PCS, CPT, HCPCS, APC, and DRG coding experience required.
• RHIT or CPC certification or accreditation required.
• One year coding experience required.
