Certified Child Life Specialist

About the role

Collaborate with the health care team to provide social, emotional, and developmental support during a pediatric patient's illness and hospitalization.

Responsibilities

• Provide social, emotional, and developmental support to pediatric patients and families during hospitalization.
• Engage in creative arts therapy activities and facilitate play-based interventions.
• Develop and implement new programs and initiatives within Peyton Manning Children's Hospital in Evansville, IN.
• Participate in training opportunities with a sister hospital in Indianapolis, which includes CCLSs, Creative Arts Therapists, School Teachers, and Pet Therapy.

Requirements

• Child Life Professional credentialed from the Association of Child Life Professionals obtained within 12 Months (1 year) of hire date or job transfer date.
• Bachelor's degree required.

Preferences

• Completion of, or securing, a child life internship establishes the timeline for earning CCLS credentials.

Qualifications

• Licensure / Certification / Registration: Child Life Professional credentialed from the Association of Child Life Professionals obtained within 12 Months (1 year) of hire date or job transfer date.

Skills

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
• Knowledge of child development and psychology.
• Experience with creative arts therapy and play-based interventions.
