Certification Manager

About the Opportunity

The Certification Manager role focuses on owning and expanding the certification program within the Learning Team. This position is responsible for developing and maintaining performance-based certification exams and credentials that validate expertise in the organization's technology. The role is key to building a professional community around certified users, supporting their growth, and enhancing the company’s reach and impact through certification initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Develop hands-on, performance-based certification exams for key use cases
• Collaborate with subject matter experts to create job task analyses
• Grade and maintain certification exams, including scripting grading processes
• Develop and deploy quizzes for course completion and credentialing
• Establish and grow a community of certified professionals via social media and events
• Track and report metrics and KPIs related to certification programs
• Coordinate with certification and badging vendors to ensure smooth exam delivery
• Provide customer support for learners pursuing certifications
• Occasionally travel to user conferences and meetups to promote certifications

Requirements

• Self-motivated with the ability to manage projects in a fast-paced environment
• Experience developing certification exams and quizzes for technical audiences
• Proficiency with SQL
• Strong technical knowledge in DBMS, OLAP, Cloud/SaaS platforms, distributed systems, and big data
• High level of ownership and accountability
• Quick learner of new technologies
• Excellent communication skills

Bonus qualifications:

• 5+ years in technical software certification
• Experience in curriculum development or instruction related to databases or distributed systems
• Familiarity with the organization’s database technology
• Experience with cloud service providers such as AWS, GCP, or Azure
• Ability to collaborate across engineering, support, product, and development teams
• Technical degree in computer science or related field

Pay

The typical starting salary range for this role in the US is $169,000 to $191,000 USD. In premium US markets, the range is $188,000 to $212,000 USD. Actual compensation depends on education, experience, skills, location, and other factors.
