About the role

The Division of the State Fire Marshal keeps Ohioans safe at home and in public by modernizing and enforcing the Ohio Fire Code; training and certifying firefighters; teaching fire prevention and safety education; investigating fires and explosions; and regulating fireworks companies, underground storage tanks, and other fire-related industries.

You will review, process, and maintain applications for licensure, certification, registration, and permitting in accordance with state laws, regulations, and agency policies. You will maintain organized electronic records, verify applicant information and supporting documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance, identify discrepancies or missing information, and follow up with applicants or supervisors to resolve issues promptly.

You will deliver high-quality customer service in a high-volume call environment while simultaneously managing and processing tasks within the assigned work queue.

Requirements

• 12 months training or experience in reviewing applicants' eligibility to take examinations, test administration and scoring, and compiling statistics concerning test results; 1 course or 3 months experience in typing, word processing, or data entry using a video display terminal.
• OR 2 years training or experience in clerical/secretarial or other administrative support position involving public contact and preparation of correspondence and reports; 1 course or 3 months experience in typing, word processing, or data entry using a video display terminal.
• OR 12 months experience as Certification/Licensure Examiner 1, 16841.
• OR equivalent of the Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.
