Certificated Teacher - Interventionist

About the Role

This position provides supplemental intervention services to identified students who are at-risk of not meeting state reading and/or math standards. Services are designed in collaboration with classroom teachers and delivered preferably in the classroom or a designated intervention area. Small-group instruction is provided to students with similar academic needs, with individual instruction offered when appropriate based on the intervention team's recommendation. Research-based intervention programs and materials aligned with students' deficit areas are used. This certificated position is supervised by the building principal and funded by the Title I/LAP program.

Responsibilities

  • Skillfully assess and diagnose student reading and math strengths and deficits to set academic goals and inform instruction.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers and the school intervention team to identify students most at-risk and not meeting state academic achievement standards.
  • Determine, in collaboration with teachers and the intervention team, which intervention programs best meet students’ needs.
  • Apply knowledge of the three levels of instruction and intervention in an MTSS model to decide the frequency and duration of interventions.
  • Use a variety of research-based instructional strategies and methods to support students receiving intervention.
  • Utilize progress monitoring tools to record student growth and adjust instructional programs as needed.
  • Manage, analyze, organize, input, and report data to evaluate the effectiveness of the intervention program and resulting student achievement.

Requirements

  • Current Washington State Teacher’s Certificate with appropriate subject area endorsement(s).
  • Three years of successful classroom teaching experience in relevant grade level and content area.
  • Demonstrates predominantly distinguished marks as measured by the criteria set for teacher evaluation.
  • Criminal background clearance.
  • Valid Washington State Driver's License.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with students in an intervention position.
  • Deep understanding of the CEL5D instructional framework.
  • Proven successful experience in an ethnically diverse school district.
  • Knowledge of English language development.

Pay

Compensation follows the Federal Way Education Association (FWEA) Salary Schedule.
