Certificated Teacher/Counselor - STEM Tech / Counselor

About the role

The Counselor and STEM Tech positions at Federal Way Public Schools are dedicated to supporting and enhancing the academic, career, and personal/social development of students.

Responsibilities

• Counselor: Works with the principal and the Coordinator of Counseling Services to implement a comprehensive school counseling program addressing academic, career, and personal/social needs.
• STEM Tech: Facilitates hands-on, Project-Based Learning (PBL) in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, emphasizing the engineering design process and Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS).

Requirements

• Counselor: Valid Washington State Teaching and Educational Staff Associate (ESA) certificate with appropriate subject area endorsements. Additional endorsements in Computer Science, Technology Education, or Instructional Technology preferred.
• STEM Tech: Experience with a comprehensive school counseling program, understanding of the American School Counselor Association framework, and demonstrated understanding of NGSS.

Qualifications

• Counselor: Bachelor's degree in counseling or related field, plus one year of relevant experience; Master's degree preferred.
• STEM Tech: Bachelor's degree in STEM-related field, plus one year of relevant experience; certification in STEM education preferred.

Skills

• Counselor: Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills; ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and community partners.
• STEM Tech: Strong project management and teaching skills; ability to integrate STEM concepts into outdoor garden activities.
