Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates competency, individually and as part of the multidisciplinary team, in performing clinical care and assessment of all patient populations.
  • Assists in the preparation of drug compounds and solutions.
  • Fills, checks, and delivers medication orders.
  • Audits and distributes controlled substances.
  • Maintains departmental infection control standards.
  • Creates various reports and documents in support of department record-keeping.
  • Completes labeling requirements for medication.
  • Participates in Quality Assurance activities.
  • Assists in the management of pharmacy inventory.
  • Assists in day-to-day operations of the Infusion Center.
  • Maintains professional competency.
  • Protects and preserves patient rights to confidentiality.
  • Performs other job-related duties as requested by supervisor.

Requirements

  • High School graduate with experience in pharmacy and familiarity with drug usage, or completion of a hospital-based training program leading to certification as a Pharmacy Technician.
  • Certified through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board with the CPHT certification and licensed through the RI Board of Pharmacy as a Tech II.
  • Available for rotating shifts including days, evenings, and nights as well as every other weekend and every other holiday.
  • Experience working with computers, strong interpersonal skills, and proficiency in the English language.
