About the role

The Board of Commissioners of Michigan Public Power Agency (MPPA) has authorized the launch of a comprehensive search to identify MPPA’s next Chief Executive Officer after the announcement of the current CEO's retirement in spring 2027. MPPA is seeking a dynamic and experienced leader in the electric power industry who will build on the organization’s strong foundation and help guide its next chapter of strategic growth and member service.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership and vision aligned with the organization’s mission and long-term goals
  • Partner closely with the Board of Commissioners and executive team
  • Drive operational excellence and organizational performance
  • Provide financial stewardship and risk management
  • Maintain and enhance stakeholder relationships, including members, partners, regulators, legislators, and industry peers

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree specializing in Business, Finance, or Engineering or equivalent related field; Master's Degree preferred
  • Sixteen (16) years progressively responsible leadership experience including at least four (4) years in a senior leadership role serving and balancing the needs of multiple internal/external stakeholders
  • Five (5) years of experience setting strategic priorities while leading a team to move initiatives from concept to completion
  • Ten (10) years of experience in the Electric Industry and/or competitive wholesale energy markets
