Centralized Cardiac Monitoring Technician - Centralized Telemetry Unit - Day Shift

About the role

Geisinger offers a Centralized Cardiac Monitoring Technician position in the Centralized Telemetry Unit with a $1,500 sign‑on bonus for eligible candidates, a minimum hiring rate of $16.25 per hour (with higher rates for experienced individuals), and up to $3 shift differentials for evening, night, and weekend shifts. The role also provides up to $40,000 in financial support to pursue nursing education.

Responsibilities

• Perform ongoing surveillance of patient cardiac monitors across multiple floors and settings.
• Provide immediate notification to registered nurses and clinicians of any changes in cardiac rhythms.
• Complete admission set‑up of telemetry monitors for clinical units and perform monitor discharge and maintenance.
• Maintain high‑level surveillance of patients’ cardiac rhythms, measure and interpret heart rhythms, and document on patient rhythm strips every four hours.
• Initiate and discontinue monitoring equipment on admission, transfer, or discharge; perform necessary configuration.
• Carry out clerical duties related to admission, discharge, and documentation of patient information from the Central Cardiac Monitoring Room.
• Communicate clearly with unit personnel when receiving or delivering information about patient rhythm changes.
• Orient and mentor new staff members; serve as a resource for training and troubleshooting to both the Central Cardiac Monitoring Room and clinical areas.
• Troubleshoot monitors with nursing staff and contact Clinical Engineering as appropriate.
