About the role

The Central Access Representative on the Financial Clearance Team plays a key role in the health system by interacting with patients, providers, payers and counterparts involved in each patient’s care. They ensure accuracy in all required demographic, referral/authorization, clinical, and other registration data is accurately scheduled, collected, verified, and communicated as a core competency of this role.

Functions include scheduling of hospital and physician services for all RWJBH sites, insurance verification, referral coordination, pre-certification, screening for financial counseling, eligibility determination, and pre-service estimate communication and collection of any required copays, deductibles or co-insurances. Collaborates, communicates and coordinates to create a positive experience through the entire patient access and revenue cycle flow.

A typical day might include:

  • Work in a busy call center environment with measurable key performance indicator goals.
  • Have empathy and understanding when supporting patients.
  • Work through prior authorizations, ensuring patient care and experience.
  • Demonstrate patience and empathy with excellent customer service skills.
  • Show excellent computer skills working on multiple screens and using various technology.

Requirements

  • High school education or equivalent with emphasis on computer literacy and communication skills.
  • Customer service experience.
  • Previous experience with Prior Authorizations or financial clearance experience.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, hospital financial systems, and insurance processes is preferred.
  • Ability to work 37.5 to 40 hours per week, in a quiet distraction-free environment at home.
  • Ability to commute to Oceanport, NJ as business needs may require.

Pay

The anticipated hourly wage range for this position is $21.07 - $26.22 per hour if hired to work in New Jersey. The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.
