Central Sterile Technician, Certified
About the role
Canyon Vista Medical Center is seeking a Certified Central Sterile Technician (CST) to join our Perioperative Services Department. This position offers varied schedule options, primarily Monday through Friday, with four 10-hour shifts.
Responsibilities
- Collects, decontaminates, stores and distributes all reusable supplies and patient care equipment in the hospital.
- Provides inspection, decontamination, assembly, and sterilization of instruments and other patient care equipment in accordance with processing guidelines, AAMI, AORN, TJC, and OSHA requirements.
- Operates departmental equipment daily according to manufacturer instructions with emphasis on safety.
- Provides customer service to all departments with a focus on the patient's needs.
- Processes and documents all sterile supplies and equipment daily using chemical, biological and mechanical indicators to verify sterility in accordance with manufacturer instructions and hospital policy.
- Maintains and monitors antimicrobial and disinfection solutions testing according to manufacturer instructions and documentation daily.
Requirements
- A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
- CRCST certification is required.
- A BLS certificate must be obtained within 30 days of hire.
- Must possess critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Qualifications
- Experience in a similar role is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Skills
- Proficiency in operating sterile processing equipment.
- Knowledge of infection control practices and protocols.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
