About the Role
The Central Sterilizing Technician is responsible for decontamination, cleaning, processing, and sterilization of supplies and equipment dispensed by the department following infection control practices. The role requires being conscientious regarding procedures and capable of working under pressure and interacting professionally with other departments within the hospital. The technician must also be willing to learn and gain familiarity with medical terminology and nomenclature of items and equipment used by the department, as well as basic understanding of various functions of the department and a conscientious regard for proper technique.
Requirements
- Must have completed an accredited program for Central Sterile Technician and maintain CST certification
- Minimum of 2 years' experience as a CST preferred
- Willingness to learn and gain familiarity with medical terminology and nomenclature of items and equipment used by the department
- Knowledge of cleaning and sterilization procedures and techniques
- Basic understanding of various functions of the department
- Conscientious regard for proper technique
Qualifications
