Central Sterile Processing Technician (CSPT) Full Time
Position Summary
The Central Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for the decontamination, inspection, assembly, sterilization, and distribution of surgical instruments and medical equipment used in orthopedic procedures. This role ensures all instruments are processed in accordance with infection control standards to support safe, efficient surgical operations.
Requirements
Decontaminate surgical instruments and equipment following established infection control guidelines
Inspect instruments for cleanliness, functionality, and damage; remove and replace defective items
Assemble instrument trays and sets specific to orthopedic procedures (e.g., joint replacements, arthroscopy)
Operate sterilization equipment including steam autoclaves, ultrasonic cleaners, and washer-disinfectors
Maintain accurate records of sterilization loads and tracking systems
Ensure proper storage and distribution of sterile instruments and supplies
Notify leadership of shortages
Collaborate with surgical staff to ensure case readiness and timely turnover of operating rooms
Assist with cleaning and maintenance of sterile processing equipment and work areas
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required
Certification as a Central Sterile Processing Technician (CRCST or equivalent) preferred or required within a specified timeframe
Prior experience in sterile processing, preferably in an orthopedic or surgical setting
Knowledge of orthopedic instrumentation and implants strongly preferred
Understanding of sterilization techniques, infection control, and aseptic practices
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail

Physical Requirements
Ability to stand for extended periods
Frequent lifting, pushing, and pulling of instrument trays (up to 25–50 lbs)
Manual dexterity for handling instruments and assembling trays
Ability to work in a temperature-variable environment (decontamination and sterile areas)
Work in a fast-paced environment
Exposure to biohazard materials and sterilization chemicals
Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) required
