Central Sterile Technician (CST)
About the role
We're looking for a dedicated Central Supply Technician to join our team and help us continue delivering the level of care our patients and families deserve. In this role, you'll be a vital part of our team, ensuring excellent service, collaboration, and patient outcomes in a fast-paced healthcare environment. You'll use special devices to sterilize instruments and other materials. Central supply technicians assume responsibility for reprocessing and delivery of re-usable instruments, sets, and linen packs. CST's are responsible for ensuring adequate sterile supply levels are maintained in the operating room and other units.
Responsibilities
- Operate sterilizing equipment on a daily basis.
- Reprocess all re-usable instruments (decontamination, set identification, preparation, sterilization) with load control numbers on the item.
- Assemble instrument trays according to computerized instrument count sheets; provide missing list when instruments are missing.
- Organize surgical instrument trays and complete stocking and inventory.
- Follow instructions accurately, organize multiple tasks, and establish day-to-day priorities.
- Follow universal precautions while working in the decontamination room.
- Verify with Operating Room staff that proper instruments, sets and equipment are on-hand and working properly.
- Provide information accurately and completely. Identify service-related problems and suggest ways to improve quality and productivity.
- Record all instruments processed in daily logs, and files according to procedure.
- Ensure all areas are clean, organized and ready for the next shift.
- Assist in cleaning and inspecting floor equipment.
- Monitor and document results of biological/bowie-dick testing, temperature and time cycles and reports malfunctions.
- Clean and monitor all necessary equipment.
Requirements
- A high school graduate or GED.
- Previous work experience in Central Sterile Supply preferred.
- Certified Central Service Technician through a nationally accredited agency preferred. If you don't have it, we will give you 18 months from date of hire to obtain this certificate within 18 months of date of hire. It is also expected that you complete the annual continuing education requirements to maintain Central Service Technician certification.

Pay
$18.68 - $29.99 / hourly, based on experience
