Central Sterile Manager
About the role
The Central Sterile Manager will manage the Central Sterile Department, directing and supervising daily functions. This role requires interpreting standards for Central Sterile and developing and implementing policies, procedures, and regulations as appropriate for CS staff, including consignment. Other responsibilities include coordinating supplies and special orders for Surgical Services, analyzing department needs, studying new products, equipment, etc., ensuring effective communication between Materials Management and Surgical Services, maintaining required records, reports, and statistics for administrative and regulatory purposes, managing annual inventory for Surgical Services, performing duties of Central Supply Technician as needed, promoting teamwork with surgery personnel, surgeons, anesthesia personnel, and personnel from other departments, participating in Performance Improvement activities to assure continuous Quality Improvement, maintaining appropriate awareness when dealing with patients, visitors, co-workers, and all other customers, and fulfilling departmental responsibilities with the long-range plan, mission, vision and values of Summit Medical Center.
Responsibilities
- Interpret standards for Central Sterile and develop and implement policies, procedures, and regulations as is appropriate for CS staff, including consignment.
- Cook up supplies and special orders for Surgical Services.
- Analyze department needs and study new products, equipment, etc.
- Ensure other department users are consulted on types and quantities of supplies needed.
- Ensure effective communication between Materials Management and Surgical Services.
- Maintain required records, reports, and statistics for administrative and regulatory purposes.
- Manage annual inventory for Surgical Services.
- Perform duties of Central Supply Technician as needed.
- Promote teamwork with surgery personnel, surgeons, anesthesia personnel, and personnel from other departments.
- Participate in Performance Improvement activities to assure continuous Quality Improvement.
- Maintain appropriate awareness when dealing with patients, visitors, co-workers, and all other customers.

Requirements
- A High School Diploma or GED is required.
- A current Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) certification is required or must be obtained within 12 months of hire.
- Two years of operating room and/or central sterile experience are required.
- A current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required within 90 days of hire.
