Central Services Technician I (Cagewash)

About the Role

We are seeking a Central Services Technician I (Cagewash) to join our Insourcing Solutions team in Cambridge, MA. You will be responsible for the overall sanitation of cages, related equipment, and facility areas, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as departmental SOPs.

Responsibilities

• Remove dirty bedding and items from shoe boxes
• Perform cage and equipment sanitation
• Operate and maintain cage washers, autoclaves, and water manifolds
• Transport caging and equipment between animal areas and cage wash rooms
• Sanitize ancillary areas, including hallways, feed, bedding, and storage areas
• Organize and manage documentation
• Receive, store, and record animal feed, bedding, and supplies
• Sanitize empty animal rooms and labs
• Inspect enrichment devices, cages, and other items
• Conduct and collect aseptic samples for water quality and equipment monitoring

Requirements

• High School Diploma or G.E.D.
• 0-6 months of experience in a laboratory animal facility, glassware cleaning, commercial dishwashing, or operating large equipment

Qualifications

• Knowledge of industrial equipment operation safety
• Understanding of federal, state, and local animal welfare laws and GLP regulations
• Initiative to solve minor problems
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Basic computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Email)
• Professional representation of the Laboratory Animal Services department

Pay

The pay range for this position is $21.39-$24.95 per hour. Salaries vary within the range based on experience, skills, education, certifications, and location.
