Central Services Attendant

NYU Langone Hospital—Brooklyn is a full-service teaching hospital and Level I trauma center located in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. The hospital serves as NYU Langone Health's anchor for healthcare access, growth, and delivery in the borough.

Position Summary

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Central Services Attendant. In this role, the successful candidate is responsible for disinfecting and distributing mobile patient equipment, maintaining supply inventory, and supporting patient care areas.

Responsibilities

• Round to assigned patient care areas to disinfect dirty equipment within the Dirty Utility Room (DUR) and tag cleaned equipment for designated storage.
• Distribute and deliver stored equipment from the Central Sterile Processing Department (CSPD) storage room to requested patient care areas.
• Distribute stored medical supplies for equipment used in patient care areas.
• Maintain adequate supply inventory and shelving within CSPD.
• Remove dirty instruments and devices from patient care areas for processing in the Decontamination Area of CSPD.
• Identify when equipment stock levels need adjustment.
• Utilize the organization’s Service Standards in daily duties.
• Process requests for medical-surgical supplies and distribute them to appropriate nursing units.
• Utilize supply inventory restocking and distribution practices according to established protocols.
• Disinfect, handle, inspect, and distribute mobile patient equipment.
• Scan all equipment into the storeroom using SPM (Supply Processing Management system).
• Maintain patient care area equipment par-levels.
• Document all supply issuance in SPM in accordance with department protocols.
• Operate the RTLS iPad to locate necessary equipment.
• Follow infection control, cross-contamination prevention policies, and departmental and hospital emergency protocols.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Good verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions and perform basic mathematical calculations.
• Ability to work flexible schedules, including weekends and holidays.

Preferred Qualifications

• CSPD experience and certification.
• Knowledge of specific healthcare products and familiarity with patient care equipment.
• Basic-level computer skills.
• Ability to operate automated and technical equipment.
• Effective communication with all levels of the organization.

Pay

The salary range for this role is $45,807.99 - $45,807.99 annually. Actual salaries depend on factors such as experience, specialty, education, and hospital need.
