CENTRAL SCHEDULER

Duties/Responsibilities

• Responsible for verification of complete orders, selection of the correct procedure/test to be done based on the physician order, verifying insurance eligibility, checking medical necessity of test against diagnosis, referral and/or authorization verification and co-payment identification.
• Taking patient phone calls to schedule or reschedule appointments, verifying and obtaining accurate patient demographic information, providing exam preparation instructions, and informing patients of any co-payment responsibilities.
• Works closely with the departments it schedules for as well as with physician offices.
• Performs clerical duties as assigned by and under the direct supervision of the Central Scheduling Supervisor.

Requirements

• A minimum of 2 years Patient Access /Patient Registration, Scheduling, Patient Accounts, or Physician Office experience required, in which there was direct hands-on of verification of eligibility, obtaining referrals and authorizations, and/or registration of demographic and insurance information.
• Medical terminology is required.
• Problem solving, customer service with strong interpersonal skills.
• Must type accurately 30 WPM.
• Epic experience a plus.
• The ability to work quickly and interact in a helpful, pleasant and courteous manner.
• A majority of the position is working in a call center like atmosphere taking calls from patients one after another.
• The ability to stay seated without interruption or distraction is required.

Benefits

This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement. The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. The pay range for this position is established and governed by the terms of the applicable collective bargaining agreement. Employees hired into this position will receive compensation consistent with the terms of the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
