Central Processing Tech II
About the role
The Central Processing Department (CPD) at William Beaumont University Hospital and Royal Oak Hospital supports Surgical Services and other departments by providing sterile instrumentation for surgical and other procedures. CPD Technicians maintain and sterilize a variety of instrumentation from surgical specialties such as Open Heart, Neurosurgery, and Robotic procedures. The CPD Technician ensures sterile instrumentation is in good working order and stays updated on surgical instrumentation technology.
Responsibilities
- Aids in overseeing and directing/precepting the workflow of Central Processing Technician students and CPD Tech I's duties as well as equipment and supply issues in the work area.
- Provides input into staff evaluations and assists with staff development on shift, as appropriate.
- Acts as a role model and resource to peers and other members of the health care team related to processing of equipment, instruments, and supplies.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 2 years of relevant experience
- Certified Sterile Processing Distribution Tech (CSPDT) - CBSPD - Certification Board for Sterile Processing & Distribution upon hire
- Registered Central Services Technician, Certified (CRCST) - IAHCSMM - International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management upon hire
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 2 years of relevant experience
- Successful completion of sterile processing program (internal or external)
- Certified Sterile Processing Distribution Tech (CSPDT) - CBSPD - Certification Board for Sterile Processing & Distribution upon hire
- Registered Central Services Technician, Certified (CRCST) - IAHCSMM - International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management upon hire
