About the role
This position is responsible for scheduling patient treatments or diagnostic procedures. Activities include pre-registration; receiving physician orders, insurance verification, verifying or obtaining authorizations and pre-certifications. May distribute educational materials or provide education to patients and families, if needed.
Qualifications
High School Graduate or equivalent required at time of hire or transfer to the department.
Requirements
- Possess excellent organizational skills
- Effective human relations and communication skills
- Proficient with commonly used office software and computers
- Able to maintain accurate statistical records, gather data and produce reports
Preferred Qualifications
- Additional related education and/or experience
- Completion of Medical Terminology course(s)
- Two (2) years of medical clerical experience; preferably in a hospital or physician office scheduling setting
