Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Central Office Technician specializing in equipment installations to support our growing operations. The role involves installing and maintaining telecommunications equipment in central offices, data centers, and OLT cabinets for ISP providers.
Key Responsibilities
- Equipment Installation & Maintenance: Install, test, and maintain rectifiers, batteries, FAPs, and other central office or data center equipment.
- Perform Cat5 and Cat6 cable testing, dressing, and termination; certifications are preferred.
- Carry out equipment installations in data centers and OLT cabinets for ISP providers.
- DC Power & Fiber Work: Perform basic DC power installation, troubleshooting, and testing. Test fiber with power meters and ensure proper cable dressing and installation.
- Testing & Quality Assurance: Ensure proper testing of all cables, power systems, and fiber installations. Adhere to installation and safety standards to guarantee high-quality outcomes.
- Travel & On-Site Work: Travel to customer sites, including central offices and data centers, as required (30% minimum). Perform work both independently and as part of a team in various environments.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with DC power systems and equipment such as rectifiers and batteries. Experience with fiber and cable testing, including Cat5/Cat6 certification (preferred). Familiarity with central office and data center installations, particularly for ISP providers. Experience: Background in central office, data center, or similar environments with DC power expertise. Related experience in fiber splicing or fiber optic work is a plus but not required.
- Travel & Work Conditions: Ability to travel a minimum of 30% for installations and maintenance work. Comfort working in physically demanding and high-tech environments.
