Responsibilities
- Receives on-the-job training to recognize heart rhythms and alert bedside care teams of changes or potential life-threatening emergencies.
- Continuously monitors heart rhythms and interprets dysrhythmias in accordance with policy and procedure under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
- Documents per the Remote Telemetry and Redundant Cardiac Monitoring Policy and related documents.
- Provides real-time video monitoring of assigned patients meeting criteria to ensure patient safety and documents per Virtual Patient Safety Surveillance Policy.
- Responds to all alarms and initiates communication promptly.
- Understands clinical area chain of command for escalation as needed.
- Communicates clearly and compassionately with patients while performing virtual patient safety surveillance.
- Notifies responsible direct care clinicians and supervisor immediately in the event of a failure of monitoring equipment.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned.
Requirements
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Must demonstrate keyboarding skills and be familiar with computer use.
- Previous hospital experience is preferred.
- Completion of an advanced dysrhythmia course upon hire and successful passing grade on an organizational EKG test upon completion of orientation and annually.
Qualifications
