Central Market (Houston) Cheese Sales Lead - Full time

About the Role

A Sales Lead applies advanced skills in procedures and techniques specific to their area of specialization and may carry out supervisory responsibilities. This role requires conveying a culinary level of food expertise, working under minimal supervision, and making sound decisions on everyday issues. Specific product knowledge is essential depending on the department.

Responsibilities

• Assist in ordering assigned products to maximize sales.
• May assist in writing the weekly department schedule.
• Identify and address high-priority activities first.
• Communicate clear expectations for assignments and delegate responsibility to appropriate team members.
• Provide excellent customer service.
• Maintain operating effectiveness, ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and company regulations and standards for product freshness, safety, refrigeration, and sanitation.
• Maintain standards in shrink, safety, and inventory control.
• Assist in merchandising the department to maximize sales.
• Use suggestive selling techniques to maximize sales.

Requirements

• Typically requires 5-8 years of work experience.
• Previous retail or restaurant experience.
• Extensive knowledge of specialty food products, food preparation, and equipment.
• Strong customer service skills and a passion for food.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and in extreme temperatures.

Qualifications

• Materials Handling Equipment certification.

Physical Demands & Working Conditions

• Must be able to manage weights in excess of 25 lbs., up to 50 lbs.
