Central Market (Houston) Produce Sales Lead - Full time

About the Role

A Sales Lead will apply advanced skills in procedures and techniques specific to their area of specialization, with potential supervisory responsibilities. This role requires a culinary level of food expertise and the ability to work under minimal supervision, making sound decisions on everyday issues and problems. Specific product knowledge is essential depending on the department.

Responsibilities

• Assist in ordering and may assist in writing the weekly department schedule.
• Identify and address high-priority activities first.
• Communicate clear expectations for assignments and delegate responsibility to appropriate team members.
• Provide excellent customer service and maintain operating effectiveness.
• Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and company regulations and standards for product freshness, safety, refrigeration, and sanitation.
• Maintain standards in shrink, safety, and inventory control.
• Assist in merchandising the department to maximize sales.
• Use suggestive selling techniques to maximize sales.

Requirements

• Typically requires 5-8 years of experience.
• Previous retail or restaurant experience.
• Knowledge of department product, food preparation, and equipment.
• Extensive knowledge of specialty food products and food preparation is essential.
• Strong customer service skills and a passion for food.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and in extreme temperatures.

Qualifications

• Materials Handling Equipment certification.

• Must be able to manage weights in excess of 25 lbs., up to 50 lbs.
