  • Responsibilities

    The successful candidate will serve as a SPM, as detailed in the WIPP Hazardous Waste Facility Permit (HWFP), for the CCP. The SPM is responsible for data validation and verification to ensure Transuranic (TRU) waste destined for WIPP meets the requirements of the WIPP Waste Acceptance Criteria (WAC). Additionally, the SPM will be proficient at the procedure/document generation and reviews, identification and disposition of nonconformances, scheduling, and performance tracking. The SPM will interface with regulatory agencies including, but not limited to, the Department of Energy (DOE), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and the New Mexico Environment Department (NMED).

Minimum Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s of Science degree in a relevant field with two (2) years of professional experience is required.
  • Experience/proficiency with Microsoft Office applications is mandatory.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Knowledge of Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) laws and regulations is preferred.
  • Knowledge of the WIPP HWFP and/or the WIPP WAC is desired.
  • Preference given to applicants with advanced degrees in sciences (i.e., Masters or PhD).
  • Preference given to applicants with previous work experience at DOE sites and/or experience with a WIPP Certified Program.
