Centerless Grinder – Machine Setup / Operator

Location: Bridgeport, CT Job Type: Full-Time Pay Range: $25–$40 per hour, depending on experience and skill level Industry: Precision Manufacturing | Aerospace | Industrial Manufacturing Job Overview We are seeking an experienced Centerless Grinder – Machine Setup / Operator to join a precision manufacturing team in Bridgeport, CT. This position involves setting up, operating, and adjusting centerless grinding machines to produce high-precision components that meet strict quality and dimensional requirements. Candidates with experience in aerospace, medical device, defense, or other precision manufacturing environments are encouraged to apply. Aerospace experience is preferred but not required. Key Responsibilities Set up and operate centerless grinding machines, including through-feed, plunge, and form grinding equipment. Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, and work instructions. Select, install, and dress grinding wheels and other required tooling. Adjust machine settings, feed rates, speeds, and grinding parameters to achieve required tolerances. Monitor production processes and make adjustments to maintain consistent quality and productivity. Inspect finished components using micrometers, calipers, and other precision measuring instruments. Identify and report quality issues and dimensional discrepancies. Perform routine machine cleaning, maintenance, and basic troubleshooting. Maintain accurate production, inspection, and job documentation. Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area. Qualifications Minimum of 2 years of experience operating centerless grinding machines or comparable precision grinding equipment. Hands-on Machine Setup Experience Is Strongly Preferred. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications. Experience using micrometers, calipers, and precision inspection tools. Understanding of grinding processes, tooling, speeds, feeds, and dimensional tolerances. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality parts. Experience in aerospace, defense, medical device, or precision industrial manufacturing is a plus. Ability to work safely in a manufacturing environment and stand for extended periods.
