About the role

The Center Support Aide provides non-clinical support to ensure the PACE center functions smoothly and safely each day. Assists with the setup, organization, and breakdown of personal care spaces, meal service operations, and common areas. Maintains a clean, orderly, and welcoming environment for participants, staff, and visitors. Supports center programming and daily workflows through supply restocking, room preparation, participant escorting within the center, and personal care assistance. Functions as a supportive team member by communicating environmental, medical or operational needs to appropriate staff to promote positive participant experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the daily setup, organization, and breakdown of personal care rooms/center, including arranging tables, chairs, hydration stations, and maintaining supplies needed for meals and/or personal care.
  • Provide non-clinical support during participant activities by escorting participants within the center under staff supervision, including personal care or transfers.
  • Assist with meal service operations, including tray setup, table preparation, meal delivery support, and dining area cleanup.
  • Assist with feeding needs of participants when needed.
  • Maintain cleanliness and order of common areas, including activity rooms, dining spaces, hydration stations, and shared equipment areas, closely following the Infection Control policies and procedures.
  • Restock center supplies such as linens, PPE, personal care supplies, participant clothing, sanitation supplies, and participant comfort items.
  • Support transportation coordination by helping stage participants for departures and arrivals, escorting wheelchairs only.
  • Monitor the center environment for safety concerns such as spills, broken equipment, cluttered walkways, or supply shortages and promptly report issues to leadership.
  • Foster positive, respectful, and supportive relationships with participants, families, and team members through professional non-clinical interaction.
  • Follow all organizational policies, confidentiality standards, and OSHA safety guidelines at all times.
  • Perform other non-clinical duties as assigned to support the daily operations of the PACE center.
  • Administer personal care such as toileting, showering, personal care, incontinence care, and colostomy care, as designated within the scope of practice of state certification.
  • Maintain required documentation for toileting, showering, laundry, and water temperatures.
  • May take assignments to cover home care needs of participants.
  • Participates in IDT for PCA role as assigned by center leadership.

Requirements

  • Two (2) years of experience working in a hospital, nursing home, or community-based setting is preferable.
  • License/Certifications applicable per State requirements (NJ must have CHHA/CNA).
  • One year of experience working with a frail or elderly population preferred. If this is not present, training will be provided upon hiring (if applicable for the role).
  • Position-specific competencies for the Personal Care Specialist will be met prior to assuming participant care.

Pre-employment requirements

  • Be medically cleared for communicable diseases and have all immunizations up to date before engaging in direct participant contact.
  • Pass a comprehensive criminal background check that may include, but is not limited to, federal and state Medicare/Medicaid exclusion lists, criminal history, education verification, license verification, reference check, and drug screen.
  • Valid driver's license where/if applicable.
