About the Role
Coordinates and administers the Center's Behavior Management System and Leadership Program in compliance with all Department of Labor (DOL), corporate, and Center policies and regulations. Responsible for the administration of the Student Incentive and Discipline Systems.
Responsibilities
- Assists the Center Director in meeting the goals and objectives of the center.
- Prepares all statistical data necessary for compiling monthly reports and other reports concerning disciplinary activities needed by the Center Director.
- Emphasizes student accountability through training and coordination to ensure students are properly addressed for unexcused class absences by their counselor, resident advisor, and assigned instructor(s) on a daily basis. Provides special focus groups for students who have developed patterns of missing class and establishes an effective system for student accountability in dormitories.
- Ensures proper recording, documentation, and closure of all disciplinary systems while following Job Corps policies and guidelines.
- Ensures staff receives written feedback on incidents of students' behavior (e.g., residential advisors, teachers) including disciplinary reports, serious incident reports, and restriction lists on a weekly basis.
- Ensures the proper functioning of the Student Behavior Management Council (Peer Review), including training board members, assisting in the supervision of elections, and overseeing hearings to ensure compliance with proper guidelines.
- Assists in monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of the student leadership program, courses, and activities as designed and scheduled through Career Development Services Systems (CDSS) using the ePCDP as prescribed in policies and procedures.
- Maintains active involvement and coordination with Case Management Teams in evaluating student progress and performance as needed.
- Establishes and maintains dorm and education courts to encourage student participation in center operations and promote positive behavior.
- Ensures student leaders are actively involved in the operation of the center.
- Provides behavior management training to all staff at least annually and within 30 days for new hires.
- Ensures the behavior management plan is updated and aligned with CDSS at all levels and phases.
- Provides special programs to recognize positive changes in behavior.
- Works toward meeting performance management goals and supports adherence to the CDSS plan and Code of Conduct system to ensure the PCDP is used effectively.
- Adheres to required property control policies and procedures.
- Complies with all DOL guidelines, OFCCP regulations, Quality Assurance Plan (QAP), Serrato policies and procedures, Job Corps notices, and Center policies.
- Maintains good housekeeping in all areas and complies with safety practices.
- Demonstrates and abides by Serrato Corporation's core values and operating principles while modeling, mentoring, and monitoring appropriate Career Success Standards.
- Evaluates personnel under their management and makes recommendations regarding disciplinary actions, promotions, and/or merit increases.
- Responsible for overall Center Outcome Measurement performance goals, Quarterly Student Safety/Satisfaction Survey, and other measurable performance indicators.
- Attends and participates in required training sessions; conducts training as necessary and ensures staff attendance at required training.
- Trains all staff to be proactive in addressing negative student behaviors that could escalate.
- Helps students become more employable through continuous reinforcement.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Proficiency with advanced Microsoft Office applications including Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel.
- Computer literacy with basic functions, email, internet, and programs such as Adobe Acrobat.
- Ability to analyze data and situations, render judgment, make decisions, and solve problems efficiently and effectively.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
- High level of management and leadership skills.
Qualifications
- One to two years of related experience and/or training.
- One year of experience working with youth or young adults.
- Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in human services, juvenile justice, or a related field. Experience and training may substitute for education.
- Valid State Driver's License.
