Maintains a thorough understanding of and ensures total operation is compliant with state and federal regulations
- Ensures facility compliance with state and federal regulations (e.g., FDA approved Standard Operating Procedures, OSHA, CLIA, and GMP)
- Assists in hosting internal and external inspections conducted by regulatory agencies and customers
- Collaborates in quality improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and product quality
- Identifies opportunities for process optimization and contributes to the development of best practices
- Implements corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to address identified issues
Safety, Health, and Environment Policies & Procedures
- Promotes Safety, Health, and Environment Policies & Procedures
- Ensures safety training and safety practices are implemented and followed within the center
- Mitigates and resolves safety concerns
Operational Management
- Oversees the performance of preventive maintenance of donor center equipment to ensure that the equipment is well-maintained and in good working order
- Ensures the facility is always well-maintained, clean, and neat
- Manages unsuitable product per Standard Operating Procedures
- Assists with achieving targeted production in quantity and quality
- Affords operational cost to meet and exceed targeted objectives to include inventory management
People Management
- Provides feedback for comprehensive employee performance evaluations, performance improvement plans, individual development plans and corrective actions as applicable
- Collaborates on employment decisions to include hiring, promotions, demotions, and terminations that strategically align with both employee and business needs
- Nurtures robust and positive culture within the donor center, exemplifying core values
- Ensures adherence to all HR policies and procedures including workers compensation, talent acquisition, compensation, benefits, leave of absence, ADA/accommodations, employee relations
- Assists in employee relations investigations
Training and Development
- Exercises the role of a Designated Trainer with a focus on conducting thorough on-the-job and certification training for both new and existing employees, diligently ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and standards
- Regularly conducts thorough area walkthroughs, demonstrating a consistent and visible presence in production zones
- Facilitates optimal productivity in production areas by providing necessary assistance as required
- Cultivates a positive and respectful rapport with donors, fostering retention, referrals, and growth
- Keeps immediate supervisor informed of any irregularities within the center
- Mitigates and reports all unsafe situations and conditions
Operational Support
- Manages unsuitable product per Standard Operating Procedures
- Assists with achieving targeted production in quantity and quality
- Affords operational cost to meet and exceed targeted objectives to include inventory management
- Assists with the coordination of staff and leadership meetings to enhance efficiency and productivity
- Drives operational performance to Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) while proactively addressing operational deficiencies
- Collaborates and supports marketing and advertising initiatives, collaborating with relevant corporate departments to pinpoint and implement essential enhancements
This Is What It Takes
- Trained in all production areas
- High School Diploma, or equivalent (GED) with 12 months applicable experience
- Up to 1 year of operations and/or process management/supervisory experience preferred
- Up to 1 year of people management preferred including recruiting, training, etc.
- Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions required
- Experience working in a highly regulated industry preferred
- Effective communication and organizational skills required
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills required
- Experience with office software preferred
- Ability to work daytime and evening hours, weekends, holidays, extended shifts and periodically after hours
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods for up to four (4) hours at a time
- Ability to tug, lift, and pull up to thirty-five (35) pounds
- Ability to bend, stoop or kneel
- Ability to enter an environment with a temperature of -40°C for short periods of time
- Occupational exposure to blood borne pathogens
- Ability to view video display terminal less than 18” away from face for extended periods of time, up to four (4) hours at a time
- Ability to perform precise tasks that require repetitive small motor skills, such as drawing blood for diagnostic tests
- Ability to type and use basic computer skills
- Ability to use assistive devices if needed for mobility or communication
