D’Youville University is seeking Workforce Development Adjunct Instructors to support short-term healthcare and allied health training programs. These positions are course-based and scheduled as workforce programs are offered.

About the Role

Adjunct instructors will be scheduled based on program needs, course schedules, enrollment, and instructor qualifications. This is an adjunct, course-based role with assignments varying depending on course offerings and enrollment. Some responsibilities may be completed remotely, including online course oversight and student communication. Skills labs, demonstrations, simulations, and competency assessments will be conducted in person at D’Youville or another approved training location.

The ideal candidate is a strong practitioner who enjoys teaching, mentoring, and helping students prepare for meaningful entry-level healthcare careers.

Responsibilities

  • Teach or support short-term workforce courses in online, hybrid, and/or in-person formats.
  • Monitor student progress in online course materials, assignments, and required modules as assigned.
  • Respond to student questions during the course and help students stay on track.
  • Lead or assist with in-person skills labs, demonstrations, simulations, practice sessions, and competency checkoffs.
  • Provide coaching, feedback, and remediation to students as needed.
  • Reinforce safety, professionalism, communication, attendance expectations, and workplace readiness.
  • Maintain accurate attendance, skills, grading, and student progress documentation.
  • Work collaboratively with the Director of Workforce Development, Skills Supervisor, program leads, and employer partners.
  • Follow D’Youville policies and applicable program, certification, regulatory, safety, and documentation requirements.

Potential Program Areas

Adjunct instructors may support one or more workforce programs depending on their background, qualifications, and program needs, including:

  • Certified Nursing Assistant
  • Phlebotomy Technician
  • EKG Technician
  • Sterile Processing Technician
  • Community Health Worker
  • Medical Assistant
  • Pharmacy Technician
  • Behavioral Health Technician
  • Patient care and allied health skills
  • Other entry-level healthcare workforce programs as developed

Some programs may require specific credentials, licensure, certification, or field experience.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Professional experience in healthcare, allied health, clinical practice, workforce training, or a related field.
  • Ability to teach, demonstrate, coach, and evaluate entry-level healthcare or allied health skills.
  • Strong communication, organization, and student support skills.
  • Comfort working with adult learners and students entering healthcare for the first time.
  • Ability to use online learning platforms and basic instructional technology.
  • Commitment to student success, workforce development, and professional standards.
  • Ability to meet program-specific qualifications, certification requirements, and institutional requirements.

Preferred:

  • Prior teaching, precepting, training, mentoring, staff development, or clinical education experience.
  • Relevant license, certification, or credential in the program area being taught.
  • Experience with skills labs, simulations, competency checkoffs, or workplace training.
  • Experience supporting hybrid or online learning.
  • Flexibility to support evening, weekend, or accelerated course schedules.
