Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- Experience in executive functioning coaching, references preferred
- Experience with teaching middle/upper school math is a plus
- Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills
- Thoughtful and evaluative writing skills
- Approachable personality and ability to maintain effective working relationships with others
- Strong skills in operating personal computers and related software (MS Office, Outlook, Google Suite, and Zoom)
- Adaptable to changing priorities, ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and able to effectively handle multiple assignments simultaneously
- Able to work in a cooperative manner with students, parents, teachers, staff, and administrators
- Flexible and organized enough to manage an 8-day rotating school schedule
- Willingness to commit to the success of each student and his/her personal growth
Duties and Responsibilities
- Collaborate with teachers and parents to provide developmentally appropriate instruction to advance each student’s understanding of core academics in one-on-one sessions
- Coach the student in study skills, test-taking strategies, managing weekly schedules, homework, and project planning
- Consult the online platform (My School App) to assess progress and monitor grades and assignment completion
- Communicate with teachers, administration, and families regarding current academic performance using email and biannual tutoring reports
- Participate in conferences and team meetings with teachers, administration, and families concerning academic progress for students on the tutoring caseload, on an as-needed basis
- Utilize multiple tools to assess student progress on an ongoing basis and adjust instruction when appropriate
- Incorporate and model appropriate use of technological tools to support instruction and student learning
- Maintain a professional manner when interacting with students, teachers, parents, and colleagues
- Maintain records of tutoring session details, progress, and attendance to support billing and tutoring reports
Work Hours and Time Commitment
- Schedule 30- to 60-minute individual tutoring sessions during the school day, 8:00 AM - 3:20 PM. These sessions may be scheduled during study halls, PE, and Community Time. Due to the 8-day rotation, this schedule varies each week
- Before and after school are optional, depending on the tutor's preferences and the student’s schedule
- Able to manage 8-10 students weekly following the 8-day rotation
- Must be available to tutor students through the final exam period at the end of the school year
- Weekly scheduling is done directly with the parent or student via email or Reminder text
- Maintain a flexible and variable schedule to accommodate the 8-day rotation
Compensation
- $63/hr for tutoring
- School supplies, textbooks, online access, a laptop, and on-site printing capabilities are provided
- Parent and division meetings are compensated at $30/hour
