Schedule
Monday - Friday 7:00am - 3:30pm, Weekends as needed
Pay
$21.67 - $24.08 per hour
About the role
The Cemetery Grounds Crew maintains cemetery grounds and prepares graves, grave areas including grave excavation; burial functions (opening/closing for interments, entombments, inurnments, disinterment); lawn sodding, seeding, fertilizing; monument and marker setting; manual and mechanical earth moving and lawn care equipment operation; and cemetery cleanup.
Responsibilities
- Perform opening and closing for burials, entombments, and inurnments
- Set, install, and assemble foundations, memorials, and markers
- Install outer burial containers
- Handle and complete client family work orders pertaining to individual grave and marker maintenance
- Respond to and complete service request work orders
- Perform interment verification procedures
- Prepare the 25-foot burial radius area to ensure it is clean and well-ordered
- Fill grave, tamp, and maintain grounds vegetation
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area
- Pressure wash vehicles and equipment as requested
- Perform other ground duties as assigned by management
- Operate hand-held tools and equipment including but not limited to shovels, picks, rakes, sledgehammers, lawn mowers, weed trimmers, leaf blowers, chain saws, and pumps
- Operate mechanical equipment including dump trucks, tractors, utility vehicles, marker trailers, dump trailers, jackhammers, tampers, and backhoes
- Use measuring devices accurately (e.g., tape measure, yardstick)
- Communicate effectively with fellow workers, contractor personnel, and client families
- Follow all company safety rules and report safety concerns to the direct supervisor
- Maintain and protect company assets by performing regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment, and facilities
Requirements
- Minimum six months' experience operating standard cemetery equipment
- High school degree or equivalent
- Acceptable driving record and applicable license(s) to operate equipment/vehicles
- Ability to lift heavy objects up to 30 lbs
