Responsibilities

  • Positioning themselves on concrete forms and moving the pump hose or concrete bucket into place for the pouring of concrete.
  • Levelling the top surface of freshly poured concrete on floors, walls, ceilings, or sidewalks.
  • Finishing the concrete surface to meet the tolerances for thickness and flatness before the concrete has cured.
  • Applying hardening and sealing compounds to cure the surface of concrete.
  • Installing anchor bolts, steel plates, and other fixtures in freshly poured concrete.
  • Operating a trowel to finish the surface when the concrete has reached a semi-cured status.
  • Maintaining a safe work environment and communicating jobsite hazards.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Valid Driver’s License required.
  • Follow safe work practices in accordance with the Hensel Phelps safety and health program.
  • Take initiative and possess a keen attention to detail.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally.
  • Strong mathematical reasoning and quantitative skills.
  • Reliable and punctual.

Qualifications

  • Experience in construction layout, blueprint reading, and shop drawing reading.
  • OSHA 10 Certification preferred.
  • CPR & First Aid Certification preferred.

Skills

  • Construction layout and blueprint reading.
  • Blueprint reading and shop drawing reading.
  • Ability to operate a trowel and finish concrete surfaces.
  • Knowledge of hardening and sealing compounds.
  • Experience with anchor bolts, steel plates, and other fixtures.
  • Safe work practices and hazard communication.

Compensation range: 0.00-0.00 (Colorado only)

Schedule

Heavy Work classification. Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Frequent walking, kneeling, sitting, crouching, reaching, stooping, reading/seeing, speaking, pushing, pulling, lifting, standing, and finger/type. Periodic climbing, working from heights, balancing, stooping, reaching, grasping, visual acuity, operating a vehicle as certified and appropriate. Occasional exposure to high and low temperatures, noisy environment, outdoor elements such as precipitation and wind. Use of hands and wrists with various tools. Prolonged use of jackhammer and pavement breaker. Use of wheelbarrows and brooms. Repetitive use of hands and wrists using power, rotational, and vibration tools including prolonged use of jackhammers and pavement breakers. Tolerate legally permissible exposure to dusts and chemicals, such as cement dust, solvents, and curing compounds. Must be able to safely wear a respirator and pass applicable medical and fit testing examinations. Must be able to hear commands from supervisors and back-up safety alarms on equipment.
