Cell Tower Technician

About the role

As a tower technician, you will work as part of a climbing crew performing tower operations, sweep testing, tower maintenance and installation, coaxial and antenna installation, and required RF testing. You will work at heights up to 500 feet, performing manual labor in outdoor environments in accordance with OSHA safety guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Perform tower operations, maintenance, and installation
• Conduct sweep testing, RF testing, and tower top fiber/PIM testing
• Install coaxial cables and antennas following carrier color codes and routing guidelines
• Read and interpret construction drawings and Radio Frequency Data Sheets
• Use basic hand tools and precision instruments (tape measure, compass, etc.)
• Apply rigging and mounting procedures for antennas and equipment
• Demonstrate proper rigging, weatherproofing, and tower pre-connaissance
• Troubleshoot tower top issues and perform load hopping tests
• Follow crane signals and safety protocols ("whoops")
• Lift up to 75 pounds and work in physically demanding positions for extended periods

Requirements

• Ability to travel Monday through Friday, with occasional overnight and weekend work
• Frequent overtime availability
• Experience in the telecommunications industry (preferred)
• Demonstrated ability to tie basic knots
• Understanding of safe rigging procedures, working load limits, and cathead knowledge
• Construction experience (a plus)
• Pass pre-employment background check and drug screen

Certifications

The following certifications are required and may be completed in-house:

• ComTrain certification
• OSHA 10 certification
• RF Awareness certification
• First Aid/CPR training
• Competent Climber certification
