About the role
The Scientific Editor will play a crucial role in shaping Cell Press Blue, a new premium open access journal focusing on life and health sciences. Reporting to the Editor in Chief for life and health sciences, the editor will collaborate with other editorial teams, manage submissions, and foster a vibrant community of researchers.
Responsibilities
- Develop and foster partnerships with other editorial teams at Cell Press, production, marketing, press, and advertising teams.
- Undertake editorial evaluation of submissions to ensure the quality and value of the journal.
- Develop a broad appeal, impactful, topical, and cohesive journal.
- Draw on and develop a network of leading researchers to attract influential article submissions.
- Travel extensively to attend relevant conferences and visit leading research institutes.
- Play an important role supporting the wider research ecosystem at Cell Press.
Requirements
- Proven research expertise relevant to life and health sciences, with a background in Immunology or Oncology beneficial but not essential.
- Existing editorial experience.
- Able to effectively network and communicate with national and international researchers.
- Able to think conceptually and critically about a wide range of scientific issues.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Benefits
We offer a competitive compensation package including a U.S. base pay range of $71,600 - $119,400, with geographic differentials applying in some locations. The position is eligible for an annual incentive bonus. For those based in NLD Amsterdam, the base pay range is €71,700 - €119,600. Country-specific benefits are available upon request.
