About the role
This part-time position provides support services to the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) as part of the Web Development Team. The role involves designing, developing, and maintaining intranet and internet websites using database-driven approaches to manage content, versions, and newsletters. The position also includes creating illustrations, graphics, and charts for web resources, PowerPoint slides, and newsletters, as well as making expert recommendations on web design and technical issues. Additionally, the role entails writing, editing, and preparing reports and initiatives on infectious diseases and cross-cutting topics such as biodefense and antimicrobial resistance.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop intranet and internet websites as part of the Web Development Team.
- Create and maintain websites, managing content and design using database-driven approaches.
- Redesign sites as needed to maximize clarity, ease of use, and to meet new requirements.
- Create illustrations, graphics, and charts for web resources, PowerPoint slides, and newsletters.
- Make expert recommendations to the technical lead on web design, graphics, and technical issues.
- Develop and review reports and initiatives on infectious diseases (e.g., influenza, malaria) and cross-cutting topics (e.g., biodefense, antimicrobial resistance).
- Work as part of a team to write, edit, and prepare documents.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in a related discipline and a minimum of eleven years of related experience (a Bachelor’s degree with three years of specialized experience may substitute for the Master’s degree).
- Proficiency in proofreading and editing.
- Experience organizing and gathering information for reports, briefings, and media outreach.
- Expertise with various database and computer programming languages.
- Expertise with various operating systems.

Pay
Salary Range: $55 USD - $61 USD per hour.
