Cell Culture Facility Manager

About the role

The manager of the Cell Culture Facility (CCF) coordinates delivery of outstanding mammalian cell culture services to laboratories at Fox Chase Cancer Center (FCCC). The manager will perform hands-on cell culture within the CCF workflow and ensure CCF staff adheres to rigorous operating procedures to provide the highest quality reagents and technical services.

Responsibilities

  • Initiate and maintain cultures of human and mouse primary cells in 2D and 3D
  • Immortalize primary cells
  • Culture and differentiate iPSCs
  • Use a bioprinter
  • Prepare B cell hybridoma fusions to generate monoclonal antibodies
  • Prepare culture media and additives
  • Support liquid nitrogen banking
  • Supervise and train CCF staff
  • Interface with research investigators and their staff
  • Coordinate purchases and service contracts
  • Maintain equipment
  • Organize monthly staff meetings

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in molecular biology, pathology, cell biology, or related scientific discipline (Required)
  • Doctorate Degree in molecular biology, pathology, cell biology, or related scientific discipline (Preferred)
  • Master's Degree in molecular biology, pathology, cell biology, or related scientific discipline (Preferred)
  • 3 years of experience in management, including oversight of scientific staff (Required)
  • 5 years of experience and knowledge of mammalian cell biology research and cell culture techniques (Required)
