Cell Biologist I - Tissue Culture (Large Scale/Wave)
About the Role
Join our Large-Scale Tissue Culture group at BioLegend as a Cell Biologist I. This position offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, performing experiments designed to increase yield within the production platform. You will gain solid experience in tissue culture and cross-training in supporting tasks such as downstream processing, ELISA assays, mycoplasma detection, and NOVA BioProfile FLEX2 use and maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Culture, set up, feed, maintain, and harvest bioreactors with hybridoma cells using aseptic technique.
- Develop and test new procedures to increase the quality and efficiency of products and processes.
- Maintain regularly used equipment, including bioreactors and associated tools.
- Perform cell counting and prepare media and autoclaved supplies related to production.
- Assist in other areas including ELISA, data entry, and experiments for process improvement and optimization.
- Support projects or responsibilities as required.
Requirements
- Associate’s degree in biology, biochemistry, or related field with 1+ years of relevant work experience; OR Bachelor’s degree in biology, biochemistry, or related field with 6+ months of general work experience.
- Currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis for any employer.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in biology, biochemistry, or related field.
- Previous tissue culture experience and familiarity with bioreactors.
- Experience working in an ISO 13485, QSR, GMP/GLP environment.
- Familiarity with inventory control, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office (including Excel).
- Additional experience handling different cell lines and bioreactors.
- Proficiency in aseptic technique.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
This role primarily operates in a laboratory environment with occasional data entry on a computer. Occasional exposure to a warehouse environment may occur. The employee is regularly required to:
- Use hands and fingers to handle, feel, or operate objects, tools, or controls.
- Reach with hands and arms.
- Stand, talk, and hear frequently.
Pay
The base salary range for this full-time position is $20.00 - $33.90/hour. The final offer will consider internal equity, work location, and factors such as job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target for a new hire in this position.
