Celebrating 35 Years of Enhancing North Central Wisconsin

The Community Foundation of North Central Wisconsin, originally established as the Wausau Area Community Foundation in 1987, is celebrating its 35th anniversary. The Foundation connects donors with nonprofit needs to create local community impact, serving as a growing philanthropic sector in the U.S. With an asset size of $89 million, it administers over 400 funds, including unrestricted, donor-advised, designated, field of interest, fiscal sponsorship, nonprofit agency, and scholarship funds. Over the past 35 years, more than $89 million has been distributed to nonprofits and charitable causes in north central Wisconsin, focusing on education, the arts, health and human services, and preservation of historical, cultural, and natural resources.

The Foundation has played a key role in major community improvement projects, such as The Woodson YMCA, The Women’s Community, Humane Society, ArtsBlock, Boys & Girls Club of the Wausau Area, and Community Partners Campus. By encouraging contributions to endowment funds, it ensures long-term charitable support for the region.
