About the role

Bella Care Hospice is seeking 2 volunteers to provide pet therapy to hospice patients. The opportunity is unpaid and requires a therapy animal.

Responsibilities

• Spend a minimum of 1 hour per week with hospice patients
• Provide pet therapy using a therapy animal
• Attend orientation, background check, and training provided by Bella Care Hospice
• Ensure therapy animal is certified and meets specific requirements
• Be respectful of patients, staff, and other volunteers
• Document visits appropriately
• Follow Bella Care's policies and legal requirements

Requirements

• Must be 18 years of age
• Have personal transportation and insurance (if applicable)
• Pass background investigation and tuberculosis test
• Successfully complete volunteer orientation and training
• Therapy animal must be certified and compatible with specific patients

• Ability to respect patients, staff, and volunteers
