CEI Inspector West Alabama Highway

Position Overview

Thompson Engineering is seeking a Construction Engineering & Inspection (CEI) Inspector to join our Quality Acceptance Team on the West Alabama Highway Design-Build Project. This large-scale, progressive design-build project involves widening Highways 43 and 69 from two lanes to a four-lane divided highway, along with the addition of new bypasses spanning a 74-mile route from Thomasville to Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

Project Scope

• Construction of 23 new bridges
• Drainage and utility relocation
• Land clearing and grubbing
• Installation of 100+ box culverts
• Division into 13 segments, each averaging 5.7 miles in length

Key Responsibilities

• Perform field inspections, observations, and materials testing to ensure contractor compliance with project plans, specifications, and technical provisions.
• Maintain accurate and detailed reports of construction activities.
• Identify and report nonconformances in contractor work to the Project Manager.
• Represent Thompson Engineering in a professional manner when interacting with clients, partner firms, and contractors.
• Consistently apply and promote safety standards in all field activities.
