CEI Project Manager West Alabama Highway
About the role
The Construction Engineering & Inspection (CEI) Project Manager supports the Quality Acceptance Team on the West Alabama Highway Design Build Project. This project involves the widening of rural highways 43 and 69 from two lanes to a four-lane divided highway, including the addition of new bypasses and construction of 23 new bridges, drainage systems, land clearing, utility relocation, and over 100 box culverts. The project is divided into 13 segments, each approximately 5.7 miles long.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and supervise quality acceptance inspection staff performing field inspections, observations, and testing of contractor activities to verify compliance with project plans, specifications, technical provisions, and procedures.
- Direct and assign inspection and testing tasks to field staff to meet minimum requirements for the project.
- Notify contractors and owners of nonconformances and assist in developing corrective action plans.
- Represent Thompson Engineering and interact professionally with clients, teaming partner firms, and contractor representatives.
- Understand, apply, and oversee safety requirements in the field.
Qualifications
- Ten years of experience in construction inspection, surveying, or highway materials testing.
- Five years of the above experience with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering.
- A Registered Professional Engineer with construction engineering and inspection experience.
