CEI Area Manager - Central Florida
About the role
The CEI Area Manager - Central Florida oversees operations, assignments, activities, and resources for the West FL region. This position manages project execution, client relations, and business growth for a large operating unit of the firm or for a large client or technical discipline (typically with annual project revenues over $5M).
Responsibilities
- Lead a diverse team of CEI staff, focusing on teamwork, quality, client service, safety, and excellence.
- Monitor and identify staffing needs based on workload projections.
- Recruit, hire, transfer, or terminate staff as necessary, and determine salary offers for new hire candidates and salary adjustments for existing staff.
- Conduct semi-annual performance reviews and annual career planning sessions with direct reports, providing ongoing performance feedback and counseling.
- Support staff in pursuing technical and professional development activities aligned with their career goals and business objectives.
- Advise staff on company policies and procedures, monitor compliance, and assist in resolving work-related issues.
- Represent the firm to the construction project group and take ultimate responsibility for the firm's performance on projects.
- Review financial performance of projects, identify potential problem projects, and assist managers in taking corrective actions.
- Lead internal staff in observing, testing, and sampling construction materials, documenting plan revisions and work progress, and enforcing quality control standards.
- Develop and implement the annual and strategic plans for the area of responsibility, and pursue new project opportunities for the area and the firm.
- Identify and resolve client relations problems, maintain visibility and professional currency, and participate in professional organizations.
- Collaborate with other CEI Area Managers and business unit market leaders to share technical capabilities and resources.
- Conduct contract negotiations, participate in project budget reviews, monitor project performance to ensure profitability, and manage accounts receivable and client billings.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field of practice.
- Postgraduate degree preferred.
- Management coursework and/or MBA a plus.
- At least 15 years of experience since B.S., with at least three of these years in positions with project management or operational management responsibilities.
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) registration required, with a Florida P.E. license obtainable within six months of employment.

Pay
$175,000 - $225,000 annually, depending on skills, experience, and geographical location.
