CDOC - Liaison III (Compliance and Policy Coordinator) (Pueblo).
About the role
This position is only open to Colorado state residents. This posting may be used to fill future vacancies in Pueblo, CO.
Responsibilities
- Function as the facility policy coordinator by setting policy committee reviews, publishing and distributing drafts and final documents.
- Manage facility implementation adjustments (IA’s) and operational memorandums (OM’s) by reviewing, revising and recommending changes to the administrative head to ensure compliance with departmental standards and regulations, and applicable State and federal laws.
- Ensure updates to facility IA’s, OM’s, and administrative regulations (AR’s) are effectively communicated to the facility employees and the incarcerated population.
- Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with stakeholders by exchanging information and assisting with resolving issues with AR’s, standards and procedures.
- Continually keep the administrative head apprised of issues as it relates to policies, procedures, standards and AR’s.
- Make recommendations for plans of action or policy updates to ensure adherence to compliance standards.
- Conduct regular inspections of their assigned facility to validate adherence to compliance standards.
- Audit correctional facilities in person through Internal Compliance Audits to determine adherence to compliance standards, AR’s, IA’s and applicable laws.
- Conduct monthly inspections throughout all areas of the facility to ensure sanitation, chemical control and tool control practices are being followed in accordance with policy and compliance standards.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Six (6) years of relevant experience in analyzing operating methods, procedures, policies and preparing reports; or managing and coordinating an accreditation, auditing, life safety and/or correctional program(s).
- Two (2) or more years of relevant experience within a State of Colorado classified position.
- Experience in a correctional environment.
- Experience with policy drafting, review, recommendations, and development for governmental, correctional, and/or organizational entity.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft applications working in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Federal and State guidelines to ensure compliance with policy development.
- Experience interpreting complex rules, regulations, and standards and applying the knowledge to specific situations.
- Experience creating, gathering, or interpreting agency accreditation file documentation.
- Experience developing and delivering presentations and training staff.
- Experience as an auditor.
