CDL Trainer

About the role

Train and prepare prospective school bus drivers to obtain their CDL and required school bus endorsements by providing effective classroom, behind-the-wheel, and safety instruction in accordance with state, federal, and district requirements.

Responsibilities

• Follows and maintains knowledge of all District policies and procedures.
• Performs pre-trip inspections on buses and reports any mechanical, electrical, or safety issues to the Transportation Department.
• Maintains a clean and mechanically sound bus at all times.
• Obeys all traffic laws.
• Ensures safety of all staff.
• Attends safety meetings.
• Performs periodical safety drills as required by law; completing necessary reports upon request.
• Operates a two-way radio.
• Other duties, as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school or general education diploma preferred
• Excellent driving record
• Possesses Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with air brake, passenger, and school bus endorsements
• Meets all federal, state, and local district requirements for the operation of a school bus
• Passes background check and random drug testing
• Ability to meet the physical requirements necessary to safely and effectively perform required duties
• Ability to work with staff of all backgrounds
• Ability to complete all necessary training in a timely fashion

Pay

The contract is hourly based on the Miscellaneous Salary Schedule.
